SANTIAGO 2023 LAUNCHES PUBLIC VOTE FOR OFFICIAL MASCOT
As the capital of Chile prepares to host its first Pan American Games in history, organizers of the Games want public help to select the Official Mascot of Santiago 2023.
The five finalists of Juanchi, Fiu, Santi, Chitama and Pewü were chosen by the Organizing Committee after receiving many proposals from professional design agencies in Chile. Now its up to sports fans throughout the world to vote for their favorite that will represent the more than 7’000 athletes and para-athletes who will compete at the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games in Chile.
“The Pan American and Parapan American Games are already a reality and we want Chileans to be part of this historic sports festival. We hope that everyone can vote for the Official Mascot and that with their vote we choose together the mascot that will represent us before the world,” said Santiago 2023 President and Chilean Sports Minister, Cecilia Perez.
Each of the five mascots has a unique story that adds character and helps bring their design to life.
“We received many very attractive proposals. Each of the five finalists have a great story behind them to help the public make the best decision and decide the Official Mascot of the Games. We invite everyone to be part of this beautiful process,” said Santiago 2023 Executive Director, Felipe De Pablo.
Chileans and fans across the globe have three weeks to choose their favorite before the voting process closes on 25th August. After the votes are tallied, the Official Mascot of Santiago 2023 will be revealed based on the results of the public vote.
“We are happy to launch this voting process. There are 41 countries that will participate in the Games and millions of people who will set their eyes on our country from this moment on. Everyone can visit our website and vote easily and quickly for their favorite mascot. We hope that everyone participates and now we wait to see who is the favorite of the public,” added Chilean Olympic Committee President, Miguel Angel Mujica.
