Yemen NOC to celebrate Olympic Day 2023 with sports events and tree planting

The Yemen Olympic Committee will celebrate Olympic Day 2023 with a series of sporting events attended by children and athletes on Wednesday and Thursday, 22-23 June, at Sports City in the capital Sanaa.

To mark the founding of the International Olympic Committee on23  June 1894 by Baron Pierre de Coubertin, the Yemen NOC will celebrate the power of sport to bring people together by holding events in tennis, table tennis, swimming, handball, wushu, wrestling and gymnastics in Sports City Sanaa on Wednesday. The next day, it will be the turn of karate, fencing and judo inside Sports City.

A sports festival featuring events in football, volleyball, basketball, chess, handball and table tennis will also be held in the City of Seiyun in the Hadramaut Governorate on Thursday. It is expected that nearly 300 athletes will participate during this celebration.

In addition, athletes and staff of the General Secretariat of the Yemen Olympic Committee will plant seedlings at the NOC headquarters to mark Olympic Day 2023.
