Swiss Olympic honours sports medicine centres for their commitment to competitive Swiss sport

Swiss Olympic has honoured twelve sports medical institutions with the “Sport Medical Base approved by Swiss Olympic” label from January 2023 in recognition of their contribution to Swiss sport.

Swiss competitive sport relies on first-class sports medicine care. That is why Swiss Olympic certifies medical institutions that are particularly committed to young Swiss competitive and top-class sport with the “Swiss Olympic Medical Center” or “Sport Medical Base approved by Swiss Olympic” label. Both the larger centers and the bases ensure sports medicine and physiotherapy training and competition support.

For the first time in four years, Swiss Olympic, the umbrella organization of Swiss sport, issued new certifications on Friday December 9th. The certification ceremony, at which the new label holders were presented with a glass plate with the certificate, will take place on Friday evening in the Olten municipal theatre. The recertified organizations were also honored at the celebration – the existing label institutions have to be recertified every four years. A total of 23 “Sport Medical Bases approved by Swiss Olympic” and 17 “Swiss Olympic Medical Centers” were recertified. Together with the twelve new ones, 52 sports medicine institutions across Switzerland bear a Swiss Olympic label.

The institutions that will carry the “Sport Medical Base approved by Swiss Olympic” label from January 2023 are listed below:

Interested institutions have the opportunity to submit their application dossiers to Swiss Olympic every two years. Management and the executive board then decide on the basis of guidelines on the award of the certificate. Because these guidelines were being revised in 2020, the award process was suspended once.
