Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong hosts Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism to Discuss Future Direction of Sports Development

Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) President Mr. Timothy T.T. FOK, GBS, JP and the Board of Officers of SF&OC met with the Hon. YEUNG Yun Hung, Kevin, GBS, JP, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. YEUNG Tak Keung, Commissioner for Sports, CSTB and Mr. CHIU Man Leong, Alvin, Political Asst to SCST to exchange views on the future direction of Hong Kong sports development.

During the meeting, Mr. FOK appreciated the establishment of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and congratulated the appointment of Mr. YEUNG. He believed that the new Bureau could formulate and coordinate sport-related policies to better fit the need of the industry at a higher level, and benefit the continuous development of sports in Hong Kong.

Thereafter, both parties exchanged views on a number of significant issues including the redevelopment of Olympic House and Hong Kong Stadium, the difficulties experienced by National Sports Associations (NSAs) in organizing sports event under the pandemic situation, the preparation of the 15th National Games and the intention of Hong Kong to bid multi-Sports Games and competitions at international level.

The Hon. YEUNG then paid a short tour of the Olympic House after the meeting to understand about the work situation of the tenant NSAs. He also talked with the staff of several NSAs to collect their views on the redevelopment of the Olympic House.

Finally, on behalf of the Sports Community, Mr. FOK expressed the appreciation for the effort of the HKSAR Government in supporting sports community. SF&OC would continue to communicate and work closely with the Government to promote Hong Kong as an international sports events city.
