Portuguese Olympic Committee hosts students to discuss the values of the Olympic Movement

The Portuguese Olympic Committee (COP) recently welcomed students studying sport from Aquilino Ribeiro School to its headquarters in Lisbon, Portugal to discuss the values that the Olympic Movement brings to society.

The visit to the headquarters began with the presentation of projects that have been developed by the COP with the aim of valuing sport socially. Discussions centred around the Olympic Movement, the symbols, values ​​and important characteristics of the Olympic Games were explained before fun activities took place to explore the students’ knowledge of the Olympic landscape.

The visit was the first activity carried out as part of the partnership between the COP and Municipality of Oeiras, with the aim of implementing Olympic Education initiatives within the Oeiras Educa+ Programme.

As part of the Olympic Values Education Programme, visits to the COP headquarters seek to open the NOC’s doors to the local community, promote Olympism among the younger generation and promote key moments and facts from the Olympic Movement, as well as the history of COP.
