NOCs of Malaysia and Thailand strengthen Cooperation Without Borders within the Olympic Movement

The President of the Olympic Council of  Malaysia (OCM) Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria and IOC Member in Thailand, H.E. Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul have strengthened cooperation between their two countries as part of the “Cooperation Without Borders” initiatives.

As it was well acknowledged by the IOC, the OCM and the NOC Thailand recorded a milestone achievement of “Olympic Day Celebration Across Boarders” with President Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria being present in Thailand physically and H.E. Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul present in Malaysia virtually on the occasion of the Olympic Day Celebrations coordinated by NOC Thailand (on 28th May 2022) and OCM (on 23rd June 2022) respectively.

In line with the above, Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria made a special trip to Bangkok in order to discuss further with H.E. Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul on the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to ensure mutual cooperation for future events and programs.

“We are finalizing the MOU between the OCM and the NOC Thailand and I am looking forward to seek an appointment to sign the MOU with H.E. General Prawit Wongsuwan, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, who is the President of NOC Thailand,” stated Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria.

“On behalf of Badminton Association of Thailand (BAT), under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King, we are also prepared to sign the MOU with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) and to work together for the development of Badminton in both countries,” stated H.E. Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul, IOC Member, Vice President of NOCT, President of BAT, who is also the Deputy President of the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

The OCM would like to thank H.E. Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul and her partner, Dato’ Dr. Somsak Leeswadtrakul, for their warm hospitality extended to Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria in Bangkok.
