Lithuanian Olympic Committee NewMiracle Project supports women leadership with international training

The NewMiracle international project aimed at supporting the involvement of women in leading positions in sports continued this week with a training in Bratislava, where participants from Slovakia, Latvia, Lithuania and Italy exchanged experiences. The NewMiracle meeting at the Gate One hotel in Bratislava gave them the opportunity to get to know each other, expand their knowledge and look at challenges in sports from a different perspective.

The NewMiracle project was created on the initiative of the Lithuanian Olympic Committee, which was joined by the national Olympic committees from Slovakia, Italy, Latvia and Estonia. In total, 100 participants took part in the program, which is co-financed by the European Union under Erasmus+.

In Bratislava, 41 female managers and project lecturers met and familiarized themselves with the topic and ideas of good management in sports. The speakers tried to explain how sports organizations work in different countries. The topics were also presented by the member of the International Olympic Committee and vice-president of the SOŠV Danka Barteková and the development manager of World Yachting Rob Holden.

The participants gained knowledge about good governance platforms and analyzed case studies of specific organizations in practical sessions. They received specific tools and materials that they can use in their own organization.

“The New Miracle project is a unique opportunity for women at all levels of sports management. Whether they hold the position of active volunteers in clubs or participate in the management of a national sports association or other sports institution. Establishing international contacts, as well as looking at the functioning of similar structures in other countries, represents a non-transferable experience that we can all benefit from for the benefit of the sports movement in our homelands,” said Lucia Antolová, a Slovak participant at the meeting in Bratislava, media manager of the Sports Support Fund.

By participating in the project, the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee is trying not only to support the involvement of women in sports, but also inclusiveness in sports. NewMiracle is not only about training. During its duration, the participants had the opportunity to consult various topics with experienced mentors.
