Jordan wins first ever Olympic medal

Jordan won its first ever Olympic medal on Thursday night as Ahmad Abughaush caused a shock upset by winning Olympic gold in the men’s -68kg taekwondo.

Abughaush was next expected to win gold but came through and won fairly comfortably in the final against Russia’s Alexey Denisenko. It was clear how much it meant to him aftern the final buzzer as he dropped to his knees and embraced his coach before making his way to a section of jubilant Jordanian fans.
