Joint MWYSA National Sports Consultation & KNOC Strategic Planning Workshop

8th March 2017 – A workshop/consultation for key stakeholders in sports was jointly conducted by the Ministry for Women, Youth and Social Affairs (MWYSA) and the Kiribati National Olympic Committee (KNOC) in regards to the development of a National Sports Policy and the KNOC 2017-2020 Strategic Plan. The workshop was attended by representatives of the 17 National Federations in country along with representatives from Government – Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Local Government – Teinainao Urban Council and Betio Town Council.

The order of the day included presentations from key persons including Mr. Taburimai Tewaki – Principal Sports Officer, Mr Kautu Temakei – Secretary General, Mr Rota Onorio – CEO KNOC and Mr Tekabara Raurenti – HPSA KNOC. The sessions also included alot of group discussions and brainstorming.

The outcomes fromt the workshop will provide key ideas in the improvement of the National Sports Policy and the scope and coverage of the Strategic Plan.
