HRH Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck re-elected President of Bhutan Olympic Committee
His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck was unanimously re-elected President of the Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC) for the term 2021-2025 during the NOC’s General Assembly on 21 May.
The New Executive Committee members from NSFs and DSAs were also during the General Assembly which was held online due to the ongoing pandemic.
The BOC also presented the Strategic Road Map for two Olympic Cycles 2021-2028 for the overall development of sports. The Secretary General of the BOC stated that the BOC will work fervently to take sports to the next level with the Strategic Road Map as their guide.
Speaking on behalf of the BOC, Lyonpo Kinzang Dorji, BIGSA said:
“Today is yet another historic day for Bhutan’s sports history, and a day worthy for jubilation and celebration. So, on behalf of everyone working under BOC, I would like to pay our humble tribute to HRH Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck upon HRH’s re-election as the President of BOC. The fact that HRH was re-elected unopposed speaks volumes of HRH’s stature as a well-recognized sports leader extending right on to the international level.”
