COB celebrates the best athletes of 2022 at the Brazilian Olympic Awards

The Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) held this Thursday, 2, at Cidade das Artes, in Rio de Janeiro, the gala night of Brazilian Olympic sport. The Brazil Olympic Award crowned the best athletes and coaches in the country last season.

The main trophies of the event went to Alison dos Santos, best male athlete, and Rebeca Andrade, best female athlete. Piu, as he is known, was world and Diamond League champion in the 400m hurdles in athletics, while Rebeca, among other achievements, was also world champion in artistic gymnastics.

After the award, the two talked about the emotion of keeping the coveted trophy of the Prêmio Brasil Olímpico.

” It makes me proud to be able to represent gymnastics and Brazil around the world. I thank the whole team that was always by my side so that I could come back every time, fulfill my dreams and goals after each injury. To Chico, my coach, who never let go my hand, he’s almost a father to me. If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t be here today , “she said.

This result is very important as an athlete, to meet someone on the street and hear that I am an inspiration to people . Even if people don’t do sports, but they admire me and grew up in life after seeing something of mine. I do it with pride, with will, it’s worth it.
