2020 Cook Island Games conclude with island of Mauke coming out on top
The 2020 Cook Island Games concluded on 17 October after two weeks of entertaining and enthralling sport.
A total of 3,500 athletes from 11 of the 15 islands that make up the country took part in the Games which last took place in 2015. Athletes competed in 24 different sports across two weeks of competition.
The island of Mauke was crowned the champions of the Games having secured 118 tally points thanks to winning 59 medals. Aitutaki won the most gold medals of the event.
Cook Islands Sports and National Olympic Committee (CISNOC) secretary general Owen Lewis spoke in glowing terms about how the Games brought people together and stated that it had 12 million viewers worldwide.
