The XXVII ANOC General Assembly took place on 30 October to 1 November 2024 in Cascais, Portugal.
Over the three days of meetings and discussions, more than 850 delegates from 195 National Olympic Committees gathered in Cascais. NOCs were joined by representatives from the IOC, International Federations, Organising Committees of the Olympic Games (OCOGs) as well as a number of other Olympic stakeholders and sports partners, taking the total number of organisations present to more than 280 and underscoring the global importance of the event.
The first two days of the General Assembly, saw NOCs receive reports from the ANOC leadership and Commissions as well as updates across ANOC’s multitude of programmes and projects. An update was provided on the implementation of ANOC’s current strategic plan and NOCs engaged in discussions on the creation of the strategic plan for the next quadrennial. IOC President Thomas Bach addressed the General Assembly for the last time as IOC President and delegates also received presentations from the IOC, OCOGs, WADA, ITA and more.
On 30 October, the iconic ANOC Awards returned for an edition dedicated to celebrating the best athletes and NOCs of Paris 2024. While on 1 November, the ANOC Theme Sessions also returned to the General Assembly following their great debut success in Seoul in 2022. Expert speakers and panellists from ANOC, NOCs, the IOC and external organisations addressed the Olympic Programme, Safeguarding and AI across three engaging and interactive Sessions.
Away from the General Assembly itself, ANOC secured a record-number of partners and exhibitors for the event reflecting the growing commercial interest. JOY Billiards, Peak Sport, Wiz Team and Bluewater served as gold sponsors with a host of silver and bronze partners also supporting ANOC in the delivery of the General Assembly and ANOC Awards.
During the meetings in Cascais, the ANOC Executive Council confirmed Hong Kong, China as the host of the next General Assembly in 2026.
