Among the Olympians who will present the awards are Ryan Lochte, 11-time Olympic medallist in swimming; Katie Ledecky, Olympic gold medallist in swimming at London 2012; Kirsty Coventry, seven-time Olympic medallist in swimming; Angela Ruggiero, IOC member and four-time Olympic medallist in ice hockey; Barbara Kendall, IOC member, ANOC Athletes’ Commission chair and three-time Olympic medallist in wind surfing; and Sergey Bubka, gold medallist in pole vault at Seoul 1988. Completing the athlete-focused line up is Ato Boldon, four-time Olympic medallist and NBC analyst, who will be the master of ceremonies for the event.
The ANOC Awards 2015 will take place at the DAR Constitution Hall – one of the most iconic venues in Washington, D.C. providing the perfect setting to celebrate the achievements of NOCs and their athletes. This year’s ceremony will also showcase the new ANOC Awards logo which reflects the festivity and glamour of the evening. The logo features the iconic ANOC Award trophy which was designed to symbolise humankind’s universal potential for sporting excellence. The logo will be used for all future editions of the ANOC Awards.
ANOC President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah said:
“We are delighted to have so many exceptional athletes taking part in the ANOC Awards 2015. The ANOC Awards should be a true celebration of NOCs and their athletes and the presence of world-famous Olympic athletes to present the awards will make the evening even more special. We wanted this year’s event to be by the athletes for the athletes and so athletes will be involved at every stage, from selecting the award winners all the way to presenting the awards themselves.
“The ANOC Awards is not just about recognising outstanding individual achievements but also about appreciating the collective unity and shared values of the world’s 206 NOCs. Athletes are at the very heart of the Olympic Movement and NOCs play a critical, and often unrecognised role, in preparing them. By providing a spectacular evening of entertainment and celebration, the ANOC Awards is a small way that we can demonstrate our gratitude for what they do all year round. Our fantastic new ANOC Awards logo will come to symbolise these values and be instantly recognisable across all future editions.”
In addition to the presentation of the ANOC Awards, the audience will also be able to enjoy performances from five groups representing the cultural diversity of the world’s five continents and their NOCs.
