Wingfoil to be part of the programme at ANOC World Beach Games Bali 2023
ANOC, NOC Indonesia and World Sailing today confirmed that the exciting discipline of Wingfoil will be added to ANOC World Beach Games Bali 2023, replacing Kitefoil on the programme.
Following a review of the venue and the weather conditions during the recent International Federation (IF) Technical Delegate (TD) meeting in Bali, a change from Kiteboard to Wingfoil was deemed necessary in order to ensure a successful competition.
Wingfoil is a fast-growing area of the sport and the ANOC World Beach Games and Bali will provide an excellent showcase for this thrilling discipline.
The Qualification System for Wingfoil at Bali 2023 has been published and can be found here.
A total of 40 athletes (20 male and 20 female) will compete in the sport at Bali 2023. In each gender, 18 will qualify via qualification places with one place reserved for the host country and one invitation place.
The 18 qualification places will be split across three pathways:
- the top six ranked athletes on the 2022 Wingfoil World Cup standings as of 1 January 2023
- the highest ranked athlete not yet qualified in each of the six Continental Qualification events
- the six highest ranked athletes on the AWBG World Qualifier event who have not yet qualified through the two pathways above
The qualification period for Wingfoil will conclude on 5 June 2023.
