Delegates arrive for key week of discussions ahead of XVII ANOC General Assembly

Ahead of the XVII ANOC General Assembly, delegates have begun to arrive in Cascais, Portugal with representatives from nearly 200 NOCs set to attend the largest gathering of the Olympic Movement outside the Olympic Games.

The General Assembly and accompanying meetings will take place between 28 October and 1 November with the return of the ANOC Awards on the evening of the 30 October celebrating the hugely successful Olympic Games Paris 2024.

More than 850 delegates from 200 NOCs as well as representatives from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), International Federations (IF) and Olympic Games Organising Committees (OCOG) will participate in a demonstration of the unifying power of the General Assembly.

Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg said:

“We are delighted to welcome NOCs from across the world to Cascais for the General Assembly, where the excellent attendance highlights the importance of our event to the Olympic Movement. The General Assembly is a key opportunity for NOCs to share experiences, best practice and debate the topics that will define the future of our Movement, and I am share all attendees will enjoy their time in Portugal.”

Ahead of the General Assembly, the ANOC Commissions will meet on 28 October alongside Olympic Solidarity sessions run for NOCs, while the 90th ANOC Executive Council meeting will be held on 29 October.

The Special Theme Sessions will return on 1 November once the General Assembly has finished, providing an opportunity for NOCs to exchange knowledge and best practice on critical subjects in a more informal environment. The focus in Cascais will be on the Olympic Programme, Safeguarding and the Olympic AI Agenda.

The General Assembly, ANOC Awards and Special Theme Sessions will all be broadcast on ANOC.TV, allowing global audiences to follow proceedings from wherever they are in the world.
