ANOC Secretary General visits Cascais as 2024 General Assembly preparations continue
ANOC delegation led by Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg visited Cascais, Portugal to discuss the continued preparations for the 2024 ANOC General Assembly and accompanying events with the Portugal Olympic Committee (COP).
The ANOC representatives met with the Local Organising Committee of the ANOC General Assembly and COP President José Manuel Constantino and ANOC emphasised the importance of their ongoing collaboration and working together as one team over the next year. President Constantino reiterated Portugal’s commitment to hosting a successful General Assembly.
Secretary General Lindberg said:
“During our discussions about the General Assembly we emphasised that we are one team, which is very important for us and for the Portuguese NOC as well. We are moving in the right direction and we are sure that the General Assembly in Cascais will be a very successful one. We feel the energy from all the people in Portugal and we are very happy to host it here.”
President Constantino said:
“It shows the trust of ANOC in our NOC that they have given us the opportunity to host the General Assembly in 2024. We will do everything in our power to successfully host this event and we ask for everyone’s support to help us achieve this.”
The ANOC General Assembly is held annually and brings together the world’s NOCs along with representatives from the IOC, International Federations, Organising Committees and other Olympic stakeholders. Cascais was confirmed as the 2024 host in March 2023.
