
ANOC President awarded ANOCA Merit Award
ANOC President Robin Mitchell was awarded an ANOCA Merit Award during the ANOCA Extraordinary General Assembly on 31 July 2024 on the sidelines of the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
President Mitchell was presented with the award in recognition of his contribution to and support of the African Olympic Movement.
During the General Assembly, President Mitchell addressed the African NOCs in attendance.
Addressing delegates, ANOCA President Mustapha Berraf praised Paris 2024 and the IOC for the delivery of the Games:
“Our valiant athletes are currently competing in Paris 2024. These Olympic Games promise medals for our champions. Their deployment is significant. The Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa has provided them with scholarships for their excellent preparation. Olympic Solidarity of the International Olympic Committee has also been deeply involved in preparing our athletes.
“We tell our athletes: GO FORWARD, AFRICA IS BEHIND YOU! The Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be a success for the continent. The performances of Team Africa will meet expectations, we are certain. After this competition, we will continue to support our athletes to achieve even more results in Los Angeles 2028.”
