ANOC praises preparations for ANOC General Assembly in Cascais

An ANOC delegation, led by ANOC Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg, today concluded a four-day site visit to Cascais and praised the preparations for this year’s ANOC General Assembly.

The ANOC delegation was joined on the visit by a team from the Portuguese Olympic Committee (COP) led by Secretary General José Manuel Araújo to review and approve the progress of the preparations.

During the visit, the delegation visited the venues for the ANOC General Assembly and ANOC Awards as well as the hotels that will accommodate the NOCs and Olympic Movement stakeholders. Meetings were held with COP and the venue operators to discuss plans across all operational areas.

ANOC Secretary General Lindberg said:

“We have enjoyed a very productive visit to Cascais and have been impressed by the preparations which are set to deliver a fantastic ANOC General Assembly later this year. From the beginning we have worked as one team with Cascais and the Portuguese Olympic Committee and that is being reflected in the smooth preparations. The General Assembly is the largest gathering of the Olympic Movement outside of the Olympic Games and so requires detailed coordination and collaboration. We have no doubt that all NOCs and Olympic stakeholders will have a very positive experience in Cascais and it will serve as the perfect stage for constructive meetings.”

COP Secretary General José Manuel Araújo added:

“NOC Portugal received ANOC in order to prepare the ANOC General Assembly for next October, in an atmosphere of great commitment to organize the great meeting of the world’s Olympic family. We highlight the creation of a single team, with an unequivocal spirit of collaboration, which encourages everyone to receive NOCs from all over the world. Welcome to ANOC Cascais 2024!”

The ANOC General Assembly will take place on 30-31 October with the ANOC Awards 2024 taking place on the evening of 30 October. The 1 November will see the return of the successful ANOC Theme Sessions. The ANOC Executive Council and ANOC Commissions will meet on 29 October.
