ANOC Executive Council holds final meeting of 2023
The ANOC Executive Council (EC) met in Lausanne today to discuss the latest ANOC initiatives and programmes which are being delivered to support the world’s National Olympic Committees (NOCs).
ANOC President Robin Mitchell welcomed the Executive Council members attending in person and those joining online and provided an overview of the work done since the last meeting in July. ANOC Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg delivered further updates including on the preparations for next year’s ANOC General Assembly Cascais 2024 and the successful third edition of the ANOC Seminar for Sport and Technical Directors, which was held in Rabat in October.
The EC approved the resolution of the 12th Olympic Summit which was held yesterday.
An update was provided on the cancellation of the ANOC World Beach Games Bali 2023. The EC approved the proposal to create a special Working Group to analyse the Games concept and ensure that it is delivering maximum value to NOCs and their athletes, as well as International Federations (IFs) and other stakeholders.
ANOC President Mitchell said:
“It was a pleasure to meet with our colleagues on the ANOC Executive Council today and update on the various activities ANOC has undertaken in a busy year for the organisation. It has of course been a year of significant challenges, but we can be proud of the work we have done together to ensure we continue to deliver meaningful projects for the NOCs. There is plenty more work to do and working with the EC and in partnership with the IOC and the Continental Associations we look forward to a successful and productive Olympic year in 2024.”
Each of the Continental Associations delivered reports of their activities during the meeting and the ANOC Commission Chairs informed the EC of their work to date.
An update was given on the ANOC.tv project which was launched on 25 April and aims to give more visibility to ANOC events, NOC events, and beach sports. A total of 62 countries have been reached so far through ANOC.tv. ANOC is also in the process of launching the first phase of implementing the NOC TV hub which will allow NOC to generate greater visibility of their content and promote their athletes. ANOC will engage one NOC per continent as the first phase of the implementation.
ANOC also updated on the NOC Photo Program which was started in Beijing 2022 and will be implemented at the Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games in partnership with the IOC. In a short period, more than 50 NOCs have registered for the program reflecting the appetite among NOCs to be part of the project. Photos will be made available the IOC’s Olympic Information Services (OIS) platform.
