Maldives Olympic Committee puts athletes first in forum

The Athletes’ Commission of the Maldives Olympic Committee organsied the Athletes’ Forum 2023 featuring a wide variety of presentations, panel discussions and interactive activities.

The forum was filled with enriching discussions, collaborative dialogue and impactful perspectives designed to inspire and empower the athletes and provide insights into all aspects of life as an athlete.

The forum received the highest level of support from the government’s Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment and from the MOC, as well as experts in many fields.

The topics included anti-doping, physical rehabilitation, safeguarding and safe sport, mental health and career after sports.

The Maldives Olympic Committee panelists were the President, Mr. Mohamed Abdul Sattar, Vice President Mr. Ahmed Ismail, Finance Director Mr. Ibrahim Azoor and Secretary General, Mr. Thamooh Ahmed Saeed, while the Athletes’ Commission panelists were the Chair, Mr. Ahmed Zabeer, and members Ms. Nashfa Amira and Ms. Afa Ismail.

The motivational speakers were the former Secretary General of Maldives Olympic Committee, Mr. Ahmed Marzooq, and former national football team captain Mr. Mohamed Kaleem.

There were also video presentations by International Olympic Committee, Athletes Commission Chair, Emma Terho, and Olympic Council of Asia, Head of Athletes Development, Mr. Tony Tarraf.
