NOC Azerbaijan hosts Physical Education and Sports Day

An event dedicated to the Physical Education and Sports Day was held in the administrative office of the Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee.

Veteran athletes, coaches and sports figures gathered for “March 5 Physical Education and Sports Day” event. NOC Vice President Chingiz Huseynzada, Youth and Sports Minister Farid Gayibov, NOC General Secretary Azer Aliyev, Olympic champions, well-known sports veterans and experts, media representatives attended the event.

Many World and Olympic champions who got sports honour of Azerbaijan including Valery Timokhin, 3-time silver medallist of the World Shooting Championship, 2-time Olympic champion in volleyball, 3-time European champion Inna Ryskal, World champion in fencing, USSR 5-time champion, who continues coaching activity in the USA Samir Ibrahimov shared their memories of national leader Heydar Aliyev in video interviews demonstrated during the event.

In the end of the event, the young athletes greeted the veteran athletes with applauses and thanked them for contribution to development of sport in Azerbaijan.

During the March 5th Physical Education and Sports Day event, an awarding ceremony in 5 categories of Fair Play was conducted. The winners of the following nominations Faithful Promoter of Fair Play Principles, Faithful Sports Figure of Fair Play Principles, Faithful Referee of Fair Play Principles, Faithfull Coach of Fair Play Principles and Faithful Athlete of Fair Play Principles received awards.
