Botswana National Olympic Committee launches Game Changers – Protect our Children Campaign

The Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) has launched the Game Changers Protect our Children Campaign which aims to provide young boys and girls with a voice and a safe platform to express their experiences without fear.

The theme of this project is ‘Stand Up and Speak Up!’ Encouraging victims to come forward and speak through the use of sport in order to get them the necessary help on their road to recovery.

As part of the initiative, participants are equipped with self-defence skills and exposed to basketball, swimming and football classes to instil focus, discipline and bravery. The project will be carried out in Maun and will run until 31 March 2023.

Game Changers is a grant initiative funded by the Commonwealth Sport Foundation. BNOC applied to take part in the initiative and chose to address issues of rape in society after a United Nations report found Botswana was in the top ten countries in the world for rape statistics
