German Olympic Committee and Hellenic Olympic Committee ‘Together in Sport’ reaches 9041 kids
9041 kids – 14 different sports: This is the result of the project “Together in Sport”, the German Olympic Committee (DOSB) and the Hellenic Olympic Committee were able to achieve in a two year project, together with the refugee organization METAdrasi.
“Together in Sport” offered regular sports activities for asylum seeking children and youngsters as well as people of the same age from the host communities in the cities of Kavala, Drama, Ioannina, Mytilini, Athens and Piraeus.
Through the low-threshold sports offer and the resulting contact between refugee children and young people from the host communities, it was not only possible to develop sports skills, but also to strengthen social cohesion among the youth.
The project was co-funded by the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) and the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) of the European Union.
