BVI Olympic Committee holds AGM

The BVIOC held its AGM on December 8 at its offices at Road Reef, Tortola. The BVIOC Executive shared its activity and financial reports for the year with its member federations and outlined the upcoming Games and Chef de Missions.

San Salvador 2023 CAC Games (June 23 – July 8, San Salvador, El Salvador). The Chef de Mission is Ms. Gloria Fahie, one of the BVIOC Executive members and a seasoned sports person who is involved with Football, Volleyball and others and is a key contact person for all things sports on Virgin Gorda.

Trinibago 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games (August 4 – 11, Trinidad and Tobago). The Chef de Mission is Ms Erica Fredricks, a PE teacher with an outstanding reputation as a track and field coach.
Santiago 2023 Pan American Games (October 20 – November 5, Santiago de Chile). The Chef de Mission is Ms. Ashley Kelly, an Olympian and recent elite athlete who is also a BVIOC Executive Member representing the BVIOC Athlete’s Commission.

Paris 2024 Olympic Games (July 26 – August 11, Paris France). The Chef de Mission is Mrs. Tahesia Harrigan-Scott, an Olympian and former elite athlete who served as an outstanding Chef de Mission at the Tokyo 2020 Games in Japan during the uncertain times of the COVID 19 era.

The date for the annual Sports Festival celebrating International Olympic Day was announced to take place on Saturday, June 24, 2023.

National Federation representatives shared their activity reports with positive forward movement and ongoing development being a common thread in all sports.

BVIOC President Ephraim Penn thanked the National Federation representatives for their attendance and commended them on their activities pledging the continued support of the BVIOC for the development of their respective sports and athletes through the grants and funds awarded by Olympic Solidarity and PanAm Sports.
