Kosovo Olympic Committee hosts “Sport Forum” Conference

In line with the  celebration of the European Week of Sport 2022, Kosovo Olympic Committee hosted the “Sport Forum” Conference at the Emerald Hotel in Prishtina.

The conference started with a minute of silence in honor of Belul Beqaj, one of the NOC founders, who passed away recently.

The European Week of Sport 2022 is organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) between 23 – 30 September with various activities over the week.

In his address, the NOC President Ismet Krasniqi praised MCYS’ efforts to support the fifth edition of the European Week of Sport, and emphasised that NOC Kosovo is happy to be part of this project, while it is also employing other Olympic education projects that seek to draw children into the world of sports.

The European Week of Sport Coordinator, Ibër Alaj, spoke about the importance and impact of this project in driving people of all ages towards active involvement in sports.

The conference in the format of panels discussed on the first topic, “Impact of the European Week of Sport over the years” which was led by the Coordinator Alaj, the NOC Secretary General, Besim Aliti, Kosovo Federation of School Sports Secretary General, Agron Dubovci, and Anita Plakolli, European Week of Sport monitoring and evaluation consultant.

The second topic, “Involvement, motivation and volunteering among young people in sports activities”, was led by Elvira Dushku, Kosovo Basketball Federation Secretary General, Vedat Jashari from the MCYS Youth Department, the athlete Gresa Bakraqi, Paris 2024 Olympic scholarship fellow, and Agnesa Islami, volunteer.

Both panel discussions were interactive and other participants representing sports federations, the National Paralympic Committee of Kosovo, and volunteers, were also actively involved.
