NOC Indonesia holds coordination meeting with National Federations on ANOC World Beach Games Bali 2023

The Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia) held a coordination meeting with 13 National Federations (NF) which oversee 14 sports which will be competed in at the ANOC World Beach Games Bali 2023. This meeting is the first conducted ahead of the second edition of the world’s most prestigious water sports and beach multievent.

Chairman of NOC Indonesia Raja Sapta Oktohari said Bali 2023 will be the largest multi-sport event to be held in Indonesia. Moreover, Indonesia has a history as a pioneer of water and beach sports, considering that the first time this event was born in Indonesia, precisely when Bali hosted the first edition of the Asian Beach Games (ABG) in 2008.

“ABG’s success has sparked ANOC to create the World Beach Games. Now we are continuing the proud legacy that Indonesia has created. We are one step closer to the world’s sporting events. This is important because after the games, we will also host the General Assembly which will be attended by 205 NOC and world sports leaders, starting from the IOC, ANOC, WADA, and so on,” said Oktohari.

AWBG Bali 2023 will compete in 14 sports, including 10 mandatory or mandatory sports namely Open Water Swimming 5km, Beach Water Polo, Beach Soccer, Beach Handball, Individual Kata Karate, Kite Foil, Beach Tennis, Aquathlon, Beach Volleyball 4×4 and Beach Wrestling.

The remaining four additional sports were selected based on the main principle that the program can bring sustainability, reach the younger generation, and inclusiveness. The four sports are 3×3 basketball, AirBadminton, Rowing Beach Sprint, and Surfing.

It is estimated that there will be 1,552 best athletes from more than 100 countries who will appear in the AWBG Bali 2023. They are the best athletes who are selected based on the qualifications set by ANOC and the relevant International Federation.

After this first meeting, continued Oktohari, ANOC and NOC Indonesia will hold a Technical Delegate Meeting with the International Federation in Bali on September 24-26.

“We hope that AWBG Bali 2023 can be carried out well, and such as successful implementation, successful achievements, administrative success and also legacy success will remain our benchmark in hosting the AWBG Bali 2023,” said Okto, who chaired the meeting accompanied by the Executive Committee Rafiq Hakim.
