Shantou Asian Youth Games release 21 pictograms for 18 sports
The Shantou Asian Youth Games Organising Committee (SAYGOC) has released the sport pictograms and core graphics for the OCA’s 3rd Asian Youth Games in 2022.
The organisers have created 21 pictograms for the 18 sports, with three events in aquatics (swimming, water polo and diving) and two outlines for wushu (taolu and sanda).
The 21 pictograms for the 18 sports are: Basketball 3×3, Swimming, Athletics, Rugby Sevens, Badminton, Surfing, Table Tennis, Water Polo, Handball, Sailing (windsurfing), Dance Sport (Breaking), Sport Climbing, Golf, Diving, Beach Volleyball, Dragon Boat, Taekwondo, Gymnastics, Football, Taolu and Sanda.
The OCA’s 3rd Asian Youth Games were due to take place from November 20-28, 2021 in Shantou – a port city in Guangdong province – but were postponed to December 20-28, 2022. However, they will keep the original title of Shantou Asian Youth Games 2021. There will be 161 events in the 18 sports.
The core graphics for the AYG contain visual elements from Shantou’s urban landmarks, historical architecture and the Games main venue. They very much resemble a blossoming Jinfeng flower- which is the mascot of the AYG.
“The core graphics suggest that the Shantou 2021 Asian Youth Games will arouse considerable passion and enthusiasm for the city of Shantou with youth, auspiciousness and vitality being injected into this time-honoured city,” SAYGOC said.
“The design is an embodiment of the finest Chinese culture, a symbol of beautiful friendships with people from other Asian countries and regions, as well as an invitation from the host city of Shantou.”
