Beach Soccer Worldwide launches the 2021 Beach Soccer official calendar

In a conference taking place on Tuesday, the Official Calendar for the 2021 Beach Soccer Season has been released and was broadcast live on the Beach Soccer Worldwide Facebook page.

The launch was led by BSWW Director of Communications Iñaki Uribarri, and on the panel were BSWW President Joan Cusco, Vice-President Gabino Renales, Director of Events Josep Ponset and Director of Competitions Ricardo Garcia.

Questions that came in from the viewers included whether spectators would be allowed in the stadiums at the events, to which Mr Cusco replied that naturally it depended on the local governments, but offered a positive message saying that, “We hope to have people in most of our events this year.”

The beach soccer season is set to kick off in St. Petersburg with the InterCup, where six Russian clubs, as well as the Russian and Belarussian national teams, will battle in the fourth edition of the tournament.

There will be two regular stages of the Euro Beach Soccer League, one in Nazaré, Portugal (Division A) and one in Chisinau, Moldova (Division B), with the Superfinal and promotion final returning to Figueira da Foz in September.

This season will also see the first edition of the Women’s Euro Beach Soccer League, which will be played in Nazaré and Figueira da Foz alongside the men’s Division A events.

In terms of new events, the Kiev Beach Soccer Cup is set to take place in late July and the WAFF (West Asian Football Federation) Beach Soccer Championship is another addition to the calendar, planned to be played in November.

Apart from those, new and exciting surprises await, with brand new competitions becoming a reality during the season, showcasing once again that the growth of beach soccer is not slowing down despite the challenges of COVID-19.

The panel pointed out that the calendar was being released with the potential of changes being made, due to the turbulent global situation as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to make international travel difficult.
